A Little About Me…
The Ol’ Reliable Nikon D3300
In 2020 life changed for us all when Covid-19 took a big swing at our day-to-day lives, giving us all time to re-assess what we value in life. At the time, I was in my first year of University, studying an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and recovering from Glandular Fever. Reminiscing on the holidays I spent with a Nikon D3300, I decided it was time to revisit my old hobby.
It wasn’t long before my passion was re-ignited for photography, and I began making regular trips out between my studies. Whilst at University, I learned what I could from online courses, and along with plenty of practice, I diversified my knowledge. There’s no real substitute for hands on time in the environment, and I believe that putting the ideas I had in to practice elevated my photography to where it is today.
During the start of my photography journey, I was fortunate enough to live only a short drive away from many amazing places, including Wyming Brook, Stanage Edge, and Langsett Reservoir. To this day I still visit these same spots and capture amazing images, only now with more tools on my belt. At the end of 2020, I captured 2 images about 2 months apart that honestly made me realise I could actually turn my hobby into something more, after I had finished my degree. ‘The Lone Birch’ and ‘Langsett Winter Stream’ are still to this day two of my favourite images I’ve ever taken.
